Pokémon TCG Club (#1)
I'm going to be running a Pokémon Club at my work (a public library)! I was so nervous when I brought up the idea to the assistant director (boss #2) but she said it was a great idea and that one of the library board members is into card games and has been talking about how we should do something with them! She gave me a sheet to fill out and the next day we met and discussed our gameplan. The library director (boss #1) also gave a few ideas! I'm surprised he's so excited about it!
There's quite a bit of prep, but I'm super excited! Boss #2 and I are going to the local card shop on Wednesday to see if the owner would be interested in sponsoring the club or donating things for us to get started. I've surprsingly never been to the card shop (it's really run down and creepy looking, in my defense) so I'm pretty excited to see what all they have.
Other things I need to do include writing up rule sheets so people have a reference of the rules that isn't the quick-start guide (it's long and fully in color so it wouldn't work to print it out), set up extra decks so people without decks could still particiate, and make a flyer for the club. I have a month to work on this, which should be plenty of time.
Boss #1 seems to want this to become an Official Pokémon Event but I'm nervous about making it a League since I've always been a super casual player... I did however make my decks follow the expanded TCG's legal card list... not the standard TCG because who in their right mind has the money to replace card every year?
There aren't any Leagues near where I live though, so maybe someday... I guess I'll see how the first few club meetings go!
Also, I am tempted to don a white lab coat and call myself Profeesor Cypress...Is that too cringe?
I have a feeling I'll be writing about this again, so I'll label this as #1, for organization reasons.
